Nov 6th - Easter Island

Easter Island also known as Rapa Nui . . . Most isolated inhabited island in the world. Flight from Santiago was around 6 hours. Population of island is 10,000. Hanga Rosa, island’s capital and only town, is on the northwest side of island.

All over the island are giant stone statues called moai. These overlook and supposedly protected the ruins of the settlements that protected them. Lots of mysteries on who, why and where they were constructed and why some were toppled.
